The veritable lump of iron whizzed right over my shoulder as “Jack” seemed about to make a break for it.

But Sheriff Hayes was faster, pulling a loaded gun on the outlaw and shoving him roughly against the wall of the cave.

I was able to cuff him immediately, and while the Sheriff kept him pinned, I went over to investigate our main target slumped over by the fire.

Blackhawk was out cold, and several wounds were made evident from our fight at the tracks, but his heart beat steady, so we loaded the two outlaws onto the backs of our horses and made back for Sagebrush.
